Pacific rockfish is the most common near-shore fish on North America's West Coast. It's an excellent white-fleshed fish for quick and easy meals and is a favorite in Asian and American cuisines.  There are several varieties of rockfish, and while they may taste slightly different from each other, all rockfish are firm, lean, and mild-flavored. I also think that the older rockfish taste like crap and the little chinas actually taste pretty good. somebody else told me that they taste pretty good too. Don't know why. One side note: an electric filet knife is the ONLY way to go on rockfish UNLESS you have RALPH cleanin your catch.

The striped bass stock within Chesapeake Bay is composed of pre-migratory fish, primarily ages 10 and younger, and coastal migratory striped bass range in age from age 2 to more than age 30. Mature resident and migratory striped bass move into tidal freshwater in early spring to spawn. After spawning, migratory fish return to the coast.
